Mission, Values and Virtues
Our Mission, Values and Virtues
St Louis Catholic Primary School is a happy and thriving community where everyone is welcome and everyone belongs.
Children, parents, teachers and governors work together as one school family. By helping and supporting each other, our children grow into ambitious, brave and caring citizens who are ready to make a positive difference in our world.
Mission
Our school community is guided by our mission statement:
“We work together, we pray together, we grow together.”
This reflects our belief that education in a Catholic school is not only about what children learn, but about who they are becoming.
Our mission flows from the shared motto of all St Louis schools, Ut Sint Unum – “That they may be one” (John 17:21). These words, spoken by Jesus in prayer, call us to live and learn in unity, love and mutual respect. They shape the way we build relationships, nurture faith and serve others within our school and beyond.
Values and Virtues
Our school values of Ambitious, Brave and Caring are rooted in the Gospel virtues and the example of Christ. Together, they guide our daily life and help us to live out our Catholic mission.
Ambitious: we believe that every child is created in the image of God and blessed with unique gifts and potential. We encourage all members of our community to aim high, persevere and use their talents wisely for the good of others.
Being ambitious links to the Gospel virtues of hope, perseverance, wisdom and faithfulness.
‘With God all things are possible” (Matthew 19:26)
Brave: we trust in God’s presence and guidance, especially when we are challenged or asked to step beyond our comfort zones. Bravery means having the courage to try new things, speak the truth, stand up for what is right and act justly.
Being brave links to the Gospel virtues of courage, trust in God, faith and hope.
“Do not be afraid” (Luke 12:32)
Caring: we are called to show compassion, kindness and respect for one another, recognising the dignity of every person. Caring also means taking responsibility for God’s creation and acting as faithful stewards of the world entrusted to us.
Being caring links to the Gospel virtues of love, compassion, kindness and service.
“Love one another as I have loved you.” (John 13:34)
Living Our Mission
By being ambitious, brave and caring, we seek to live out our mission each day. Working together in unity, praying together in faith, and growing together in virtue, we strive to be a community where everyone is valued, supported and inspired.
